Drawing Fashion Design Templates

24 Feb

Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw different fashions but didn’t know where to start?

There are a few simple steps to follow and you’ll be surprised at how well u can draw.

  • Always draw lightly at first.
  • Draw all the shapes and pieces in the correct place.
  • Pay special attention to the spaces between the lines and the lines themselves.
  • Add details and shading to your finished drawing for a complete look.
  • Always erase the lines you don’t need to give your drawing a professional touch.

There are just four tools you will need to get started.

  1. A medium or soft pencil. Using a fine marker or pen to finish your drawing is acceptable.
  2. A pencil sharpener
  3. Lots of paper
  4. An eraser. A kneaded eraser works best. You can squeeze it into odd shapes or make it smaller. This kind of eraser can make the pencil lines lighter without erasing them altogether.

Using basic shapes to construct your designs make it easy for you to create new fashions over and over again. Start with Large oval shapes, circles, lines and rectangles to make your designs come to life.

Sometimes using a fashion template can help you create your designs easier. Using tracing paper over the template of your choice, trace the outlines of the figure. If the figures have facial features or hair styles, add those in as well.  Don’t forget to choose the right colors, shaping depth, folds and accessories to make your final sketches more unique.

It is important to remember that drawing fashion sketches is just the precursor for fashion designers who eventually market their ideas and designs. At the end of the day a great fashion design can become a hot ticket item in the fashion industry.

Here are a few design templates I have borrowed from Designernexus.com:
